The 90s makeup look was quite natural looking. Nude lipsticks with a semi-gloss or sheer in them were popular to make the look subtle and pretty. One of the most popular brands known for their good lipstick in the 90s was Bonny Bell’s makeup line, this was commonly bought because the sheer lip products were very trendy in the 90s. Popular makeup looks in magazines such as VOGUE during the 90s often used a burgundy brown lipstick and lip liner. A common go to brand was Wet n’ Wild, but as long as your lips were the colour of an old shoe leather, you didn’t really care what brand you used.
Brown, blue and metallic eye shadow was also quite popular in the 90s, the eye shadow was generally applied all the way up to the eyebrows. One of the most common brans for eye shadow was Jane, and this brand was also used for lips, face and nails. Body glitter in the 90s was a must, you rolled it on everywhere and it ideally smelt like watermelon, kiwifruit or cucumber.
Urban Decay used to be a raw and edgy makeup brand that was commonly used by people in the 90s. But now Urban Decay has been commercialised and become more of a glam rock makeup brand. Another major product in the 90s was Revlon’s colour stay lipstick, this was so popular in the 90s because before this time there was nothing like this; a lipstick that would last and keep your lips looking good and coloured all day.
A defining first beauty product for generations of women was Lip Smackers. They were very popular and introduced new colors and flavors and even "sport" balms you could wear around your neck in the '90s. Lip Smackers have been around since 1973. The first fruity flavor to hit the market was Strawberry.
Blue mascara was very popular in the 90s, if you wanted to stand out and make a statement that you could wash off at the end of the day, colored mascara was the way to go. And like all good things of the 90s it’s made a comeback. Sephora has a lovely bright shade of blue, Maybelline has always had blue mascara, and high-end brands like Dior also have fancy blue shades available for you.
